Today I’m going to shock you!
Yes, I’m going to reveal a secret, something I haven’t told many people: I HATE CLEANING! YES, I HAAAAATE IT!
There, I said it! I feel better now it’s out!
I absolutely hate cleaning. Day after day, after day…..always the same! And the worst thing about it? Tomorrow I’ll have to start all over again!
This is my friends, quite frankly, the stuff of nightmares!
WHY DO YOU CLEAN YOUR HOUSE WITH ESSENTIAL OILS?
I loath cleaning. however, it is an unavoidable part of life.
Most importantly, I do like a clean house, and I have one.
In all my years of practice, I have found some very helpful solutions. Cleaning is a bit more bearable, at least.
Having the right tools on hand whenever I need them, helps a lot.
For instance, it helps because:
- it makes it easier to keep my house clean;
- it requires less effort and time.
DO ESSENTIAL OILS REALLY WORK FOR CLEANING?
Essential Oils are widely used to support our body and our wellness.
In addition, they can be also extremely useful for cleaning.
With natural cleansing properties, they provide a simple yet powerful way to keep things clean around your home.
WHY CLEAN WITH ESSENTIAL OILS?
There are many reasons why I choose to clean with Essential Oils.
For example:
- they are natural, and safe to use in my home;
- Essential Oils are potent and effective;
- they provide a natural alternative to chemical and toxins loaded commercial cleaning products;
- Oils are very versatile. Therefore, you can use them in many different ways around the home;
- I can benefit from the aromatic power of the Essential Oils as I clean: win win!

ESSENTIAL OILS FOR CLEANING AND DISINFECTING?
Essential Oils are extracts taken from plant parts, which means they are highly concentrated and extremely potent. Not only do they provide a potent aroma, but the chemical components in each oil, provide powerful benefits.
Because Essential Oils are so potent, only a small amount will be necessary to provide serious cleaning power”.
ARE Essential oils safe FOR CLEANING?
If you want to minimise toxins exposure around your family, Essential Oils are the best solution you could find.
They are natural products, 100% plant extracts.
As a consequence, when used appropriately, you can safely use them around the entire family.
They are extracted in such way to preserve their potent properties. In other words, you can rely on their natural components to provide cleansing and purifying power.
HOW DO YOU CLEAN YOUR HOUSE WITH ESSENTIAL OILS?
Cleaning with Essential Oils is very simple. Mainly you will mix them with some water or white vinegar or Castile soap.
You only need a few supplies to get started:
- White distilled vinegar;
- Castile soap;
- Distilled or cooled, boiled water;
- Glass spray bottles;
- Dish soap (liquid);
- Bicarbonate of soda;
- Sal Suds (optional);
- A funnel, to avoid spillages;
- Essential Oils.
WHAT ESSENTIAL OILS ARE GOOD FOR CLEANING?
There are tons of Essential Oils that can be used in DIY household cleaners.
However, don’t get discouraged if you only own a handful of Oils.
You can begin with just a few old reliable ones, such as Lemon or Melaleuca (Tea Tree).
Start with what you have. Most importantly, see what works best for you and your family.
You can add to your collection as you go.

WHAT ESSENTIAL OILS ARE BEST FOR CLEANING?
As I mentioned above, there are tons of Essential Oils that are good for cleaning your home.
If you are wondering which is the best one, much depends on your preference and lifestyle.
I like to use Lemon, Melaleuca (Tea Tree) and Eucalyptus. However, you might not like their smell, or just not have them.
My advice would be to try a few, and see what works best for your needs.
WHAT ESSENTIAL OILS ARE USED FOR DISINFECTING? WHAT ARE THE BEST ESSENTIAL OILS FOR CLEANING AND DISINFECTING?
All the Oils that I mention in the below list, are well known for their cleansing and disinfecting properties.
Again, in my opinion there is no best or worst. It is a matter of trying them, and decide what you prefer, according to your taste and lifestyle.

I have compiled a list of Essential Oils that are good for cleaning and disinfecting around the home.
This list is by no means exhaustive.
However, it is a good place to start.

- CYPRESS: antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic,
- EUCALYPTUS: antibacterial, antiviral, insecticidal
- LAVENDER: antifungal, antimicrobial, antiseptic,
- LEMON: antifungal, antiviral, antiseptic,
- LEMONGRASS: antibacterial, antiseptic, insect repellent
- MELALEUCA (TEA TREE): antifungal, antiseptic, antibacterial, antiviral
- OREGANO: antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, antiviral
- PEPPERMINT: antibacterial, antiseptic, antiviral
- ROSEMARY: antibacterial, antifungal
- WILD ORANGE: antiseptic, antibacterial
