With Easter just around the corner, I thought I’d write a post to help you find fun ways to spend some quality time with the whole family.

After all, there is no better way to spend Easter Sunday than an Easter egg scavenger hunt!

easter egg hunt ideas at home: EASTER RIDDLES FOR KIDS.

Organizing a treasure hunt at home is a great way to entertain your entire family. Most importantly, it is surprisingly easy to organize, and can be done outdoor (if the weather allows), or indoor.

When my children were little, we loved to organize an Easter parade. The kids took part in the annual egg hunt first, and then they would march around the house to show us, proud parents the treats and medals they had won. We also used to read Easter kind of stories at bedtime, and do lots of Easter’s inspired crafts.

Easter fun the easy way

Here in Ireland the children have two entire weeks off school for the Easter holidays, and it can be difficult to fill the time, especially if the weather isn’t great!

Organizing an Easter egg hunt is a great idea in my opinion to give the children something to do. Equally, it will provide them with something to look forward to.

Bear in mind, you don’t have to do the egg hunt on Easter Day necessarily. You could do it anytime you want.

In years to come, this will become one of the fun Easter traditions for your family, and I’m sure it will provide lovely memories.

FUN Easter RIDDLES AND trivia for kids

Participating in an Easter egg hide, is truly a great way to entertain your children, but also to improve their problem-solving skills.

Solving trick questions and head-scratching riddles, will help them develop their logical thinking and boost their self confidence.

Also, if you are lucky enough to be able to organise the egg hunt outdoor, it will provide lots of egg-cercise for the smallies!

TOOLS YOU WILL NEED

You only need a few supplies and certainly nothing expensive.

You will need:

  • an empty basket for each of the participants: if you can get an Easter basket of course that is a nice touch, but any type will do;
  • some plastic eggs to hide around the home or the garden. If you can’t get plastic eggs, you can always use small chocolate eggs or jelly beans, and use them as the treat at the end of the Easter egg hunt.
  • prizes to give to the winner (or winners).

HOW TO PLAY THE EASTER EGG SCAVENGER HUNT

Making sure the participants are not looking, hide the little plastic eggs around your home or your garden, following the clues I’m providing in this post. Make sure to leave an egg and a clue in every spot.

When finished, give each participant an empty basket, and ask them to start looking for the hiding spots.

Every time they discover an egg, they can place it in their basket and read the clue. If they solve the Easter riddle, they will know where to look next, in order to find another treat and another clue.

The hunt is over when all clues (and treats) have been discovered.

The person with the largest number of eggs or treats in their basket wins the egg hunt.
